Hi, everyone!
My name is Shirokij,

and i am supposed to write on everyday issues... will do that with pleasure, but adding my current opinion and thoughts. Hope, you won't kick me bad deal ok?
Tell you the truth - my current interest is Japan. The country attracts me in all current aspects, whether it's technology, or just simple things... but i'll try not to focus too much on japanese side, promise!

Soooo, let's try first post... Augmented reality catches attention:

The hype surrounding augmented reality (AR) technology is often dwarfed by coverage of 3D television, but that may change once both are put into practice on a broad scale. AR could prove to change lives more profoundly, not only by locating subway stations:
, but also by providing information about anything or anyone at which you point your device.

The Red Cross is using face-recognition software and anime hair to attract blood donors in Akihabara
grabbed headlines in Japan last year, and several new Japanese applications may indicate what to expect in the coming decade. The
is now being tested in Shibuya, allowing iPhone users to get real-time information on shopping and entertainment options in the buildings that users pass by.

In another development, Japanese advertising giant, Hakuhodo, has teamed up with the Asahi Shimbun newspaper for an application that allows you to point your phone at ads in its pages and instantly receive extra video content. What makes this unique is that it doesn’t require a QR code. On the contrary, their ubiquity in Japan has brought about some creative applications. These codes can be found everywhere:

, and their minimalist, black & white design can often be more aesthetically pleasing than garish neon and “SALE!” signs.

QR codes in commercials:

How to use QR code:

My own QR code (on discount card):

In Tokyo they even have N-Building:

the whole facade of it is the biggest QR code, so with your mobile device you will be taken to a site which includes up to date shop information. Also, you can read the tweets of people inside.

AR.Drone helicopter controllable by iPhone

Parrot AR.Drone, a remote-controlled helicopter with a twist. It's controlled over Wi-Fi from an iPhone or iPod Touch, and it's got a camera in its snout that streams to your iPhone's screen.
The copter itself is computer-stabilized.It'll cost in the neighborhood of $500, when it ships this year. You'll get about 15 minutes of battery-powered fun on a one-hour charge.
You tilt your iPhone to steer the helicopter, with touch controls to adjust altitude.
The iPhone app features a virtual game mode, where the screen will show virtual enemies in front of your real 'copter, for you to strafe. Or you can just fly it around to spy on pets or neighbors. Two caveats, though: Its range is limited by Wi-Fi. If it manages to lose contact with your phone it will hover for a minute until you walk back into range (or it runs out of batteries). And it only works in still air or very light wind. If you take it out to your yard and try to fly it up over your house, you'll probably hit some currents that make it uncontrollable.
Parrot plans to open up the Wi-Fi control interface.

Danny Choo already got one recently:
